Sausage and Mezzelune Casserole

You’ll need to get out a few of your pots and pans to make this sausage and mezzelune casserole but it’s totally worth it! With chicken, pasta and colourful vegetables it’s comfort food in a skillet.

Here’s my recipe.


  • 1 package of puttanesca mezzelune pasta

  • 4 chicken sausages

  • 1 bell pepper diced

  • 1 bunch of swiss chard diced

  • 1 clove of minced garlic

  • 1/2 of regular sized onion diced

  • 3 cups of marinara sauce

  • salt

  • 2 cups of mozzarella cheese (optional)


  • If you want to add mozzarella cheese to the dish, heat the oven to 375°F.


  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions and reserve 1 cup of cooking liquid.

  • In an oven safe pan, heat some oil and then brown the sausages.



  • Remove the browned sausages from the pan and add, the garlic, onions and bell peppers and cook for 5 minutes.



  • Then add the swiss chard and salt to taste and cover with a tight fitting lid and cook for 10 minutes.




  • Then add the sausage, pasta,marinara sauce and cooking liquid and cook for 10 minutes.



  • Then top if with the cheese and bake it for 10 minutes.
