Maple-Lemon Chicken

Maple syrup and lemon juice makes a delicious sauce. The tartness from the lemon juice balances the sweetness from the maple syrup. It’s even better when it’s served over a juicy piece of chicken.

Here’s the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 boneless,skinless chicken breast

  • 1/2 lemon juiced

  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch

  • 1 tablespoon of chilli powder

  • 1/4 cup of maple syrup

  • salt

    Method:

  • At least 1 hour before cooking, put the 1/4 cup of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a plastic bag and marinate the chicken in it.

  • Remove the chicken from the marinade. Mix the cornstarch, chilli powder and 1 teaspoon of salt in a plastic bag and coat the chicken with it.

  • Heat the oven to 350°F. Coat an oven safe frying pan with cooking spray.  Put the chicken in the pan and top it with the lemon slices and bake it for 30 minutes.

  • Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pan and let it rest. Deglaze the pan with 1/4 cup of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup.

 

  • Spoon the sauce over the chicken.
